Biomechanics of Bodies (BoB)

Biomechanical analysis

Highlights

  • Biomechanics
  • Joint contact forces
  • Muscle loading

Description

Biomechanics of Bodies (BoB) is a biomechanical modeling package that contains a human musculoskeletal model. The model consists of a rigid segment representing the major anatomical components connected by physiologically appropriate joints and more than 600 locomotor muscles. BoB enables the calculation of anatomical trajectories, center of mass trajectories, ground reaction forces, muscle forces, and joint contact loads together with a muscle editor and an extensive visualization capability.

BoB resides within the MATLAB® and Simulink® environment, which enables easy data export to MATLAB, a common analysis environment in academia and industry. All of the analysis capabilities of MATLAB and Simulink are available to BoB and all legacy models including control engineering and statistical analysis can interact with BoB. BoB provides the human element in a MATLAB analysis.

The learning curve for BoB is very short. For existing MATLAB and Simulink users it is almost zero. The product consists of an S-function that contains the musculoskeletal model and a postprocessor that runs from the MATLAB prompt.
