Configure Middleware for Handling Communication Between Applications

The applications, which are generated from the software component models in a system architecture, communicate with the operating system and other applications over middleware.

For a system architecture, you can choose between these middleware options:

• Data Distribution Service (DDS), which is an Object Management Group (OMG) standard that is used in real-time systems.

• Scalable Service-Oriented Middleware over IP (SOME/IP), which is used primarily in the automotive industry as an alternative to the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol.

You configure your middleware choice in the Software Component Designer view of your architecture model. In the Generate Code section of the toolstrip, under Middleware, select DDS or SOME/IP.
