Hi, Out of nowhere most of my Matlab code has changed into unreadable characters. It was fine the last time I saved my file.

This is how a few characters look like: íþ ð 432130dm ð (screenshot attached for few lines of code). Does anybody know if the file can be converted back to text as it was originally? Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a version with an .asv extension? If so, you can recover it from that last autosaved version.

I couldn't find any .asv files.. so, I guess there is no other way to recover the code.. Thanks for your suggestion.

To avoid future problems, turn on autosaving in the preferences on the Home tab of the tool ribbon:

Your code is gone. It has been overwritten with information that has to do with Spotlight metadata queries.
The only part of your code that can be recovered is
clear all;clc;close all
As you appear to be using OS-X, I suggest using TimeMachine to restore the file.
