Dear Mathworks support team,
whenever I try to install Mathlab R2019b the installation fails when using "Log in with a MathWorks account".
The error given says "Error: Unable to connect to host.sun.securityValidatorException: PKIX path building failed..."
Is there any way how to solve this issue?
Best regards,
George

Same problem here ... I'm working on a brand new laptop (Win 10) as well. Installing Matlab gives exactly the same problem as above. I did it for R2019b, but I also tried for R2019a with the same negative result.
I re-installed java (Java 8 update 241) as suggested below, deleted the temp folder, I rebooted the PC, etc. but this didn't bring any solution ...

I tried Paul De Meulenaeres exact actions on a Windows Server 2019 and it worked.
- Tried installing R2019b, ("PKIX path building failed ...")
- Deleted temp folder created by the installer.
- Installed Java 8 U 241
- Rebooted
- Ran R2019b installer again
- No issues, where the error showed before.

Solved it. Install Java manually from java.com. The JRE included in the Matlab Installer seems to be broken.

Does your Windows have all updates installed (including optional ones)? Have you rebooted after installing Java manually? Also you could try to delete the temporary folder created by the Matlab installer and run it again. I did not need to to anything other than these things. I thought it was Java that solved the issue because it worked after I did that.

Thank you, rai7aeLa, your solution (also) worked for me. I first deleted the _temp folder already created by the Matlab installer, then installed Java jre1.8.0_231 and rebooted the machine. Afterwards, the Matlab installation succeeded.
In contrast, the often suggested standard fix of deactivating Antivirus protection and/or changing Firewall settings had done nothing at all.

I updated my java JRE via java.com and it correctly installed afterwards
