Help with filling in a few pixels

I need to trace around a mri scan of a brain

Ive traced around the brain, but due to a few missing pixels it traces around the whole thing

is there a way id be able to change those gaps to black so it traces only inside the brain

See imerode with proper str element then trace. Later you have to take care this morpho operation to get the actual shape/sizes
