Multiple GUIs: changing text in main gui on pushbutton command in sub gui

I am currently trying to write a GUI code that allows me to press an "edit" button in the main gui and goes to a separate window (the sub gui) where the editing occurs of a value. Then, upon pressing a pushbutton in the sub gui the sub gui should close and update a static text string value in the main gui.

Is there a simple way to do this?

in the edit button callback write the .fig name of the sub gui.
