The Maxwell-Stefan formulation describes diffusion from first principles. Thus, unlike Fick diffusion, Maxwell-Stefan diffusion can describe multicomponent mixtures.
This Matlab function simulates the 1962 bulb diffusion experiment of Duncan and Toor, an experiment that validated the accuracy of Maxwell-Stefan diffusion. See associated powerpoint for details.
