Simscape™ Fluids™ software enables you to model a variety of thermal and isothermal liquid systems. Key application areas include fluid transport, power generation, as well as heating and cooling. Simscape Fluids blocks are organized into three libraries spanning two Simscape liquid domains, Hydraulics and Thermal Liquid. The libraries include:
Hydraulics — Model liquid systems at constant temperature, without regard for heat transfer. The fluid properties are constant functions of temperature. This library is suitable for systems where temperature fluctuations are small, as in hydraulic actuators operating at nearly constant temperature.
Thermal Liquid — Model liquid systems at variable temperature, with thermal effects due to convective and conductive heat transfer. The fluid properties are functions of pressure and temperature. This library is suitable for systems where temperature fluctuations can be large, as in engine oil coolers.
Fluid Network Interfaces — Model heat exchange and other physical interactions between otherwise distinct liquid networks. The library includes convenience blocks such as Interface (TL-IL) that you can use to expand any existing Hydraulics models with Thermal Liquid components.
