Reinforcement Learning Designer
R2026bDesign, train, and simulate reinforcement learning agents
Description
The Reinforcement Learning Designer app lets you design, train, and simulate agents for existing environments.
Using this app, you can:
Import an existing environment from the MATLAB® workspace or create a predefined environment.
Automatically create or import an agent for your environment.
Q-learning, SARSA, DQN, DDPG, PPO (including hybrid PPO), TRPO, TD3 and SAC (including discrete and hybrid SAC) agents are supported.
Train and simulate the agent against the environment.
Analyze simulation results and refine your agent parameters.
Export the final agent to the MATLAB workspace for further use and deployment.
Limitations
The following features are not supported in the Reinforcement Learning Designer app.
Multiagent environments
PG, AC, LSPI and MBPO agents
Custom agents
Creating DQN, DDPG, PPO, TRPO, TD3 and SAC agents relying on an approximation model different than a deep neural network (but you can create such agents at the MATLAB command line and import them and train them in the app).
Creating Q-learning and SARSA agents relying on an approximation model different than a table (but you can create such agents at the MATLAB command line and import them and train them in the app).
If your application requires any of these unsupported features then design, train, and simulate your agent at the command line.
