Loss of interp1 functionality

According to documentation here, the interp1 syntax

pp = interp1(x,v,'linear','pp');

is being removed. Seems like a withdrawal of capabilities to me. What about people who want the pp form to analyze breaks and coefficients, etc... ?

Am I missing something? Is there supposed to be a new and improved way to get the pp form?
