How to use special subplot

Hi guys

I have 8 plots who represents North,West,East,South an so on, so I want to make a plot where I leave the middle field empty. I have created a 3x3 subplot, but I don't know how to leave the middle empty... Here is my code.

for i=1:8 %Number of headings

     subplot(3,3,i)
           for j=1:length(SR)
           plot(omega,Sp_we(:,i,j))
           end 
end
