Run MATLAB code from Visual Studio

I'm trying to run .m files from Visual Studio. I'm using macos (Monterey) and Matlab R2021b. I'v installed the Matlab for Visual Studio Code extension and running the .m files, but it's not working. It says zsh: permission denied (and then the folder where my .m files are stored). I've attached a screenshot if that helps.

How do I resolve this issue?
