cut and paste by script (windows 7)

i have a list of large files in matlab (subset of visual logs) and i need to move them to another folder on the same drive by script

On first attempt i used movefile, but it literally takes hour to perform (moving 800gb of data). Doing that with windows gui takes couple of seconds since its same physical drive (selecting proper files is a pain though).

What command should i use to perform cut/paste (on same physical drive) operation via script in a bearable time set?

Thomas - why not use the system function to execute a DOS command to move the files from one directory to another. Something like

 system('move C:/source.txt C:/someFolder/');

Perhaps that will take less than the hour that you have observed with movefile.
