Passing Variables between functions in a GUI

Greetings,

After several days of trying to use a "setappdata" function and getting too many errors I am resovling to find a much simpler solution. I am trying to create a varaible in one function in a gui and pass it into another.

The idea is that I have a radio button selectring one or two different types of tests to run. It sets a variable to either a 1 or 0 and then another function uses the one or a zero, adjusts it's parameters accordingly and runs the test.

Does anyone have any ideas for a simple (does not matter if it's elegant) solution?
