- Simulink model: This requires you to understand & implement mathematical model & control design of bidirectional converter that connects Battery with Ultracapacitor.
- Simscape model: This requires familiarity with Simscape component based modeling & control design.
Modifying the EV reference application (Powertrain Blockset)

Hi,
I am currently working on a simulation model of a battery electric vehicle using the powertrain blockset. I would like to modify the existing EV reference application into an electric vehicle featuring a HYBRID ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEm (Ultracapacitor+Battery) with a UC-active topology. What would be the best way to start implementing changes to the model or what could be the better way to construct my desired model (eg. replacing components in the base EV reference application or replacing components, switching to Simscape, etc.). All advice and/or guidance is welcomed.
Thank you.

Hi travis,
This can be done in two ways:
Once you decide which path to take, please make the Hybrid Energy Storage System separately as a first step. Next step would be to integrate the same with EV Reference Application.
The EV Reference Application comes with both Simulink as well as Simscape options, when created from Virtual Vehicle Composer App. You may try it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKxB6k9VZ78
If you require further assistance, please feel free to click here and contact us with more details so our team can help you out. Mention this thread to speed up the process.
Hope this helps.
Have a good day.
