I'm using Matlab on Ubuntu 24.04.1. I have a function that uses cdfread. Many times it works, but sometimes when I run it (without changing anything), Matlab gets stuck in the process and says 'Busy'. So far its not a big deal, but when this happens I'm not able to stop the process (with Ctrl+C or the stop icon). Then I want to close it, I get asked if I want to force quit, I say 'Yes'. Nothing happens. Then I try to kill it from the terminal, but still nothing happenes, Matlab window is still up. The only solution that worked for me is restarting the computer, which is very frustrating.
Does anyone have a solution for force quiting matlab or a method for checking if the cdfread will ruin Matlab again?

You should contact MATLAB Technical Support:
Maybe the files you try to read are just too large to fit for your available RAM.

MATLAB tends not to start just one process. You can look at the list of processes and try to end other MATLAB-related processes. MATLAB also relies on Java, and you can try to end Java-related processes. If there are other processes that are consuming CPU, disk, network, or a lot of memory during the freeze, you can also try to end them.
