MATLAB Coder is extra-cost product, and requires the MATLAB Academic or MATLAB Professional editions; MATLAB Coder is not available for use on MATLAB Student Version. Also, there are number of other toolboxes that are mandatory or strongly advised for MATLAB Coder, such as the Fixed Point Toolbox.

There are a fair number of limitations in what MATLAB Coder can generate code for.
