Data Acquisition Toolbox - Gated Counting

My question regards to the Data Acquisition Toolbox. Is there a possibility to set a Gate in the session-based interface? All I can find is the function addTriggerChannel, which is not what I need. I want to read out a counter during a certain Gate is opened. I`m using NI Hardware (USB-6210) and Matlab 8.4.0.150421 with DAQ-Toolbox 3.6
