I have a simulink model that requires values from the results of running a command editor, can I run simulink and the editor in the same time, or can I have a subsystem in my simulink model that runs those instructions in the same time? is there a block in matlab that can have a matlab m. file that can be run in simulink?

Are the scripts run ONCE before every simulation? If yes, you can call them in model callback functions. Refer to the documentation here.
If they need to be run at EVERY STEP of the simulation, you can use a MATLAB function block. Note that, this block has its limitation in the MATLAB functions it can call. Refer to the documentation here.
