Is is possible to programatically dock and undock the editor?
I am using MATLAB 2016b.

You can programmatically dock/undock editor files as follows:
com.mathworks.mde.desk.MLDesktop.getInstance.setClientDocked(fullfilename, true); % docked
com.mathworks.mde.desk.MLDesktop.getInstance.setClientDocked(fullfilename, false); % undocked
I am not familiar with a programmatic way to dock the entire editor window.
