I'm convinced that nobody can tell you, what's going wrong based on the stack trace only. "win64\hg.dll+02304993 set_control_nameFast" might mean, that it happens in the graphics library of Matlab.

Do you have some code, which reproduces the problem? Do you use the OpenGL hardware renderer with an outdated graphics driver? What exactly does "often" mean?

I assume that there is an additional message attached to the stack trace. Something like: "If this is reproducible and does not happen in a user defined MEX function, send this report together with a description of the problem to MathWorks' support team." And this is the best solution you will get.

You can set a breakpoint in the code and check, which command cause the crash. If you post the relevant code, perhaps the command can be found in the list of known bugs. If it is a known bug, MathWorks' support team will recognize this fast.
