encoding technique for a 2000X400 grey scale image compression

Hi, I am working on image compression of a 2000X400 grey scale image.As a part of this I started with wavelet transformation, quantisation . Now m not able to figure out which encoding should be done for a lossles image reconstruction and how should it be done. Kindly help as m totally confused
