FFT with data points in MATLAB

I have a list of 32 data points and need to compute the Fourier coefficients using the FFT method. I also need to show the output of each reduction step. Can anyone help?

I'm not sure I understand. If x is your data
xdft = fft(x);
Is the discrete Fourier transform. What more do you mean and what specifically do you mean when you say "...show the output of each reduction step"?
