How can I prepare the EEG data before applying SVM algorithm?

I'm working on a senior project using BCI. I will acquire my data using the Emotiv EPOC headset. I would like to know how can I prepare my data before feeding it into the SVM. I am not very familiar with machine learning. How should my data set look like? please help me I am very lost

I would search PubMed for "brain computer interface" to start with. Also search on "Emotiv EPOC". (First use the double quotes, and if you have too few results, remove the quotes to see what the less specific search returns.) You might later add MATLAB and also SVM to those searches (without any quotes), to select the papers that use MATLAB and SVM.

So first, see what others in the field are doing, and choose the most appropriate method for your research.
