How can manual switch block change the solver performance on Simulink?

I'm currently trying to control a model and I have a manual switch to change between some convenient inputs. What happens is that the simulation doesn't go well just by the inclusion of this manual switch. I get the expected results if I remove it for whatever reason. I'd like to understand more about this issue. I know the manual switch's state can be modified online, so maybe the solver is doing something to be prepared for changes ahead?
