Problem installing matlab in ubuntu

Hi i am unable to install matlab 2018a in ubuntu 18.04 it keeps on saying permission denied if i try to install it using the terminal

Sounds like you have tried to make a systems installation while being a normal user - then yuo would not have write permissions in the /usr... part of your file system. You should install it as root, try using su to root first or sudo.

I tried installing as root user only but it also didn't work

Well, then (except if you have set the install-to-directory to something very unusual (/proc, /sys?) where noting should be installed) it might be something related to matlab, possibly licence-related. For advices with that we need more information. Possibly you should contact mathworks support directly.
