what is the "Initial layer delay states" in the preparets() function?

hello to all.
i don't know exactly what is the Ai , in the outputs of the preparets function and what does it do? i searched in the internet and documents of matlab but i could not find any exact explanation.
so i m here for your help . thanks

I am also curious to know what Ai matter and what is its significance. Please let me know if you have found some this else related to this Ai.
