Difference between MATLAB Solver type and Simulation type in SimPowerSystems

What is difference between Simulation type in SimPowerSystems (choosing in powergui) and Simulink Solver Type? For example, I build a model of power line fault with discrete simulation type. Does it means, that Discrete fixed-step solver is invoked? Or it means, that the state model is solving by selected in Model Configuration Parameters Solver and then discretizied, if necessary?
