Editor becomes very slow
Mostrar comentarios más antiguos
Hello,
recently I realize that aftersome time the editor starts to respond very slowly, whcih makes it impossible to continue working efficiently. To resolve the issue, I shut down Matlab and delete the preferences folder. After a fresh start it works again. However, this is annoyinh because I always have to re-initalize my preferences. Does anybody know what the problem is and how to resolve it ? Ii happens with R2018b and R2019b. I have an Imac with 10.14.6 Mojave.
Thanks for your help help.

Hi Jurgen,
10-20 files should not be a problem and should not being slowing down the editor. Clarifying questions - what type of files are these? How much RAM do you have? And what else are you doing with MATLAB at the same time?
My advice would be to contact MathWorks Technical Support to guide you through resolving the issue.
Thanks,
Jared

Hello everyone,
I am encountering a similar problem with matlab r2020b on mac 11.4 Big Sur: sometimes, the editor becomes very laggy and unusable. This problem appears and disappears randomly since a few days. I checked the RAM and the CPU activity, I am far from using the max capacity. Some people had a similar problem caused by an interaction between Matlab and the application Magnet. But in my case, I do not use magnet.
@Jurgen REINGRUBER how did you deactivate the input via microphone in the editor? I could not find such a thing in the preferences.
Thanks for your help.

The Big Sur problem is related to the version of Big Sur that you are using. Unfortunately the latest release slowed down the M1 a lot for many people. Reports are that using the newest R2021a Update helps.
Also, there is a bug report saying that for reasons not understood as yet, M1 users might need to invoke MATLAB from the terminal instead of from Dock or Icon in order to avoid crashes.

Thank you a lot for your answer! In this case, I may try with R2021a, I will let you know if it solves the problem.

I just come back to report that indeed, installing r2021a and installing the last update did the job: no lag anymore. Thanks a lot!
Edit: I talked too fast, the problem is still happening... It looks like it is becoming even more frequent.
I am not even using M1, I have a classic intel processor.
