place down error underneath text string

Hi all,

to place a down arrow for a text annotation in a plot I can use...

text(0.5,0.5,'\downarrow mytext')

..which puts the arrow to the left of the text or...

text(0.5,0.5,'mytext \downarrow')

which put the error to the right of the text.

What is the code for placing the down arrow underneath the text string?

I got it! The full code is...

text(0.5,0.5,'$\stackrel{mytext}{\downarrow}$','interpreter','latex')

The only problem: the resulting text becomes very small (see attached). Is there a way to enlarge it?
