creating a surf plot

hi, i have a problem with the surf() function. if i have a 4*4 data matrix and im using the surf function i get a plot area divided to squers, but its a 3*3 area. how do i keep it in the original dimentions?

The surface is defined by the points of the corners. If you have 2 corners in each direction, you get 1 surface object. With 4x4 corners you get 3x3 surface elements. There is no way to exceed this behavior.

so is there a way to do it with a different function? so i will maintain the original grid size?
