Posting pictures in the forum

Dear TMW,
One of the important features of the Answers forum is not supported sufficiently: Posting pictures. Currently pictures must be uploaded to any servers in the net and only the link to them is embedded in the text. See: Answers: Where can I upload images. Unfortunately these foreign servers show a lot of commercials. With disabled JavaScript I frequently cannot see the hosted picture at all, but after disabling the precious NoScript I receive tracking cookies and more advertisments. In addition these foreign services will remove the pictures after some time, such that the corresponding threads and the precious answers become unreadable and useless.
Please set up a server to host pictures for the forum, such that I'm not forced to dig in a pile of advertisments only to asnwer questions in this forum. The current procedure is inconvenient, annoying and provokes security leaks, although the actual feature of allowing to show a picture is fabulous.
This has been mentioned in the wish-list, the wish-list2, some tutorial threads about posting pictures and in enhancement requests sent to TMW already. So the topic is not new, but pending and desirable.

This is probably the number one most needed functionality upgrade to Answers. If they put off all the other "nice-to-have's" over the next year and did only this and nothing else, that would be fine. It's hard to believe we've gone without this functionality for what - almost 3 years? Especially when they've got a (secret) FTP site that's already there. I know it might be more complicated than it first appears, but heck, hundreds of other web sites were able to do it already.

The other web sites even earn money with this service.
There is already a well tested process for storing desriptive pictures in the FEX. But of course posting a dummy function only to store a picture reliably on a TMW server is a bad idea. But to be true, I have seen even less useful submissions in the FEX.

Note: Almost 2 years, not 3.

This is an important feature for us, too, and we are working out what it will take for us to offer it. As is often the case, the technical requirements are less demanding than the policy requirements. I can't promise that we'll offer it, but we do understand the need.
