Window function for arbitrary 2D shape for sensor/antenna arrays

I was looking at the taylortaperc function, which can apply a taylor taper to a elements with a known radius. There is also a matlab article on how to apply tapering to rectangular array, by essentially by multiplying the vectors respresenting the taylor windows along each dimension with each other.

Is there a recommended method for generating a window function for an arbitrary shape, for example, if the elements were arranged into a semicircle?
