how can i use principal component analysis for reduce the data point in signal

I want to reduce the data point in sigal with PCA.But every things i search in internet describe about PCA in ECG and there are eight signals and was used PCA to reduce that to one signal but i have a one signal .also i used princomp command in matlab .but i do not know how to use it for reduce the data point in signal.

PCA is used to reduce the dimensionality of the data, not reduce the number of points.
