Activation Date and the Validation Date

What is the difference between the Activation Date and the Validation Date that's on the Activation Details for xxxxxxxx in the license center. Screenshot is attached.

I used to have this type of license. Apparently, Mathworks periodically "validate" the license, just to make sure everyone is honest. You computer could be without network for a long time, or you have not used MATLAB for a long time, thus the validation is overdue. You could click it with internet connection to make it up to date.

Another benefit for this is for me as an administrator of a group license, I can see the last validate date of a particular license. I will know this person might have not used MATLAB for a long time. Thus I can assign the license to somebody else in need.
