what is the formula used for Approximation quality metrics(measerr)?

Respected sir/madam, my project title is FPGA based implementation of edge detection algorithms. In my project ,i am in need of performance parameters for edge detection. in matlab , i have got one function related to perfromance parameter. That parameter is [PSNR,MSE,MAXERR,L2RAT] = measerr(X,XAPP). anyone kindly help me, what is the formula they have used behind that measerr. Thanks in advance.
