Adding dates to the x-axis

In the Matlab help file, there is an example showing forecasting using GARCH predictions. A chart shows both conditional and unconditional volatility of the FX series dem2gbp.

Question: how to plot the same chart with dates along the x-axis if the dates data were given for this example?
