Battery Monitoring, soc and soh estimation, battery modeling, initial soc of battery

I have been working on micro controller-based SOC and SOH monitoring of lead-acid battery pack. I have some problem with how can I found the value of initial state of charge as it is necessary to parameter estimation technique. I checked several papers, but I little bit confused.

I would like to know that is there a simple method to identify the SOC and SOH when the battery is under load condition and show those values on the LCD using a micro controller.

I need some guidance on how can I start this project.
