Concentric Square Matrix with and without a loop

Hi,

I am new to matlab and could use some help. I need to create a 31 by 31 matrix of concentric squares by setting squareSize=31 and store the result as squares31 one with a loop and one without using a loop.

Please let me know how I should go about this!
