Why Use a Split-Source Inverter?
  • It can boost and invert voltage in a single stage, unlike traditional two-stage systems.
  • It's more compact and efficient than Z-source inverters because it uses fewer passive components.
  • Especially suited for renewable energy systems, such as PV and fuel cells, where input voltage fluctuates.
🔧 Basic Circuit Description
🔹 Key Components
  • 1 Inductor (L)
  • 1 Capacitor (C)
  • DC Source
  • 3-Phase Inverter Bridge (6 switches)
  • Diode (D) to direct energy flow
  • Load (3-phase or resistive)
🔹 Topology
The SSI splits the source path with an inductor and capacitor in a unique configuration, allowing voltage boost capability by temporarily storing energy in the inductor and transferring it to the capacitor during switching.
