Does MATLAB HASP USB Dongle interface is READ or WRITE access?

I am using Windows USB HASP Dongle for MATLAB R2007b and earlier. I want to know if this dongle interface require READ or WRITE access.

The HASP Dongles do not have any writable memory and are read only devices.
