selection function for ordered chromosomes

Hi all, how should I implement a selection function for genetic algorithms, in which an order is to be mantained for the chromosomes? Thanks..;)

keepidx = [1 7 3 2];
keepidx = sort(keepidx);
x = x(keepidx);
y = y(keepidx);

Do you just mean sort the indices for the extraction?
