Matlab Algorithm- Matrix triangulation

Hello guys,

I'm new at Matlab and i'm trying to do a matlab algorithm for my matrices. (What i need to figure out is in the file attached)

The first step is to compare Ai,j with Aj,i. We take the biggest value from both elements and we remove the smallest value to it. Than, the smallest element become 0. Is there a way to do that in matlab ?

I will need to figure out the second step also, but I will start with the first one.
