MATLAB usage in industry.

I want to know how much people in industry uses matlab? what is the percentage share of matlab as compared to other tools? I surfed thorough the internet but could not find any relevant survey or analysis? Has anyone ever came across such stats? If yes, please post the link. It'd be really helpful of yours.

I don't know that that information is available. I think I once heard that about a million licenses have been sold (give or take 50%), but I have no idea really. Not sure how many are actively using it, or of how many people are using similar tools instead.
