Prebuilt OpenCV interface freezes up

I am using the OpenCV interface for MATLAB. However, when I try to use this example, MATLAB says 'Busy' and freezes up.

import vision.opencv.util.*
[ocvMat,ocvArray] = createMat;

However, if I stop execution and rerun the above code, it works normally. What is throwing MATLAB into an infinite loop when I first use any function from the OpenCV interface?
