finding parameters with GA

hello, i'm newbie, my teacher said that we can find parameters in a function by using genetic algorithm (GA) For example: with Y = aX^2 + b, and X {X0, X1, .... Xn}, Y{Y0, Y1,... Yn} we can use genetic algorithm to find that, can it possible? do we have any code for that
