How to connect private github repository to Matlab?

I'm trying to add my github repository to Matlab R2021a using their source control menu and i keep getting an authentication error. How do I actually make the connection to a private repository? I have a second public repository under the same account and it is able to connect without issue. I know i'm typing the correct information in every time.

The error im getting is

Unable to validate the specified path with the following git error: https://github.com/my-user-name/Test_2: not authorized.

My steps: Project tab -> Source Control -> Remote -> (enter git https URL) -> validate -> type in login information

I have tried using SSH but I hit a dead end. According to this article, setting up SSH is a lost cause for R2021a.

I was able to connect using SSH. You need to prepare the key on your computer then add it to github.
