AS I get older my eyes lose contrast and my memory just loses
There the second means I want to see as much code on the screen as possible
The first means that I miss many of the errors matlab recognizes --leading to wasted time
How can I increase the width of the curly red marker under error in .mat files?

I suspect that you meant in .m files instead of .mat
Which MATLAB version are you using? The editor had a major change a small number of releases ago.

Correct I meant .m files but if there is an editor for .mat files (what ever they are) I suspect that their marker is too small too :-)
I use some older version when my students have old GPU's
The small size of the error markerr has been same for the many version -- it is just my eyes are getting older
The current version iI am hoping to fix today is R2020b

Hello @Michael.
I understand you are seeking a way to make the red underlines for errors more visible and prominent but, unfortunately, there is no option in MATLAB to adjust the width of the red underline for errors in MATLAB.
However, starting from MATLAB R2022b, you can utilize the Code Analyzer App to identify and address code issues, including problems and areas of improvement.
To open the Code Analyzer App, please follow these steps:
  • MATLAB Toolstrip: On the Apps tab, under MATLAB, click the app icon: .
  • MATLAB Command Prompt: Enter "codeAnalyzer".
Please refer this link for more information regarding the Code Analyzer App.
Thanks,
Asim
