What is the minimum version of MATLAB on which .mlapp is able to run?

I'm choosing between the two options for creating MATLAB GUI: GUIDE and App Designer. Obviously the latter is easier to use but I would like to run (not to edit) the GUI on different versions of MATLAB. Now the question: what is the minimum version of MATLAB on which .mlapp is able to run? Strangely, I couldn't find a solid answer to this seemly easy question either through officical documents or Google.
