I would like to connect the two separated curves into one. So how can I fill the missing pixels?
Also, after using the Hough transform in detecting lines, how can I set those lines detected to zero in a binary image?
Any help

You can improve your segmentation algorithm. Or else just extract the two largest blobs with my attached utility. Then use find() to find the two points that are closest and use imline() to connect them by drawing a line. Demos for everything is attached. Feel free to adapt them.

Unfortunately, I could not succeed in doing it. Image processing is not my field of study. I thought it is going to be easy to follow what have you posted. If there is any simpler way, please let me know.
Also, regarding the second question I posted, do you have any approach for that. After using the Hough Transform, I can find lines. How can I set those lines detected to zero pixel?
